Councillor Steve Matthews

Councillor Steve Matthews represents The Western Parishes and was elected in May 2021.

Steve is a retired Police Officer having served 27 years in Cleveland Police. Prior to his retirement in 2013 Steve was the Chairman of Cleveland Police Federation, having also worked in a wide variety of roles across the County during his policing career.

Prior to joining Cleveland Police Steve served 7 years as an Army Combat Medical Technician in the RAMC, having joined on leaving school at 16. Steve has served both at home and abroad and still maintains that connection with HM Forces through his service as a Commissioned Officer with the Army Cadet Force.

Steve is passionate about both his country and his community and he continues to serve as Chairman of Carlton Parish Council. He will strive to bring that sense of pride and service into his role as a Ward Councillor and will continue to make the Western Parishes a desirable place to live and work in.

Steve is married with two grown up children and is a resident of Western Parishes.
