The Council has hired 34 apprentices in total after advertising a range of roles this May.

All 34 new starters were welcomed with a special event attended by the Council's Leader, Councillor Bob Cook, and Managing Director, Julie Danks, on Thursday (September 29).

Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: "I was delighted to welcome the 34 new starters on board on Thursday and I'm looking forward to hearing about their progress. Many of our apprentices hired in the past have gone on to secure permanent roles with the Council.

"I started out as an apprentice myself many years ago, so I know that the on-the-job experience you gain from an apprenticeship is vital as you step into the world of work.

"We're proud of our track record with apprentices and we were honoured last year with an award from the Northern Skills Group.

"There'll be lots of opportunities for the apprentices to develop their skills and I hope they enjoying learning their trade with the Council."
