Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has appointed a new Director of Adults, Health and Wellbeing Services.

Carolyn Nice will take up the post in July and will oversee social care, Public Health, strategy and transformation and community safety and regulated services.

The appointment comes as the Council's current Director of Adults and Health, Ann Workman, is retiring.

Carolyn joins the Council from City of Doncaster Council, where she has held the post of Assistant Director of Adult Social Care since 2020.

Carolyn said: "I was interested in the role because it is a forward-thinking Council that has a great reputation - and the portfolio is so exciting.

"I am a qualified social worker but began my career in health and social care as a domestic in a care home and then worked as a care assistant in a range of NHS and social care settings.

"I am passionate about the services I will be responsible for and I'm really excited about working alongside Members, our senior leadership team, workforce and partners to build strong communities in which people can thrive and be happy."

Mike Greene, Chief Executive of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: "We are delighted to have appointed Carolyn to the role and she brings with her a wealth of experience built up in different areas around the country.

"We know how committed Carolyn is to ensuring all of our residents have the ability and opportunities to flourish, leading healthy and independent lives. We are very much looking forward to her getting started."
