Levendale Primary School in Yarm is celebrating after receiving a 'Good' rating in all areas from Ofsted.

Inspectors visited the school in June and found it to be "calm and purposeful" with pupils consistently going "beyond the high expectations" set for behaviour and learning.

Pupils were also found to have an "enthusiasm that greets you when you enter the building" and feel "safe and happy".

One pupil is noted to have confidently stated "Levendale is an amazing place to be".

There was also high praise in the report for reading and French on the curriculum.

The school's Head Teacher, Mrs Joanne Lewis, said: "We are really proud of this inspection result and it's testament to the incredibly hard work of all our staff, which is reflected throughout the report.

"It's also wonderful to read about the children's attitude towards school and their excellent behaviour is a real strength of the school.

"Since joining the school in April, I've had the pleasure of getting to know the members of our school community and I'm pleased that our effective partnerships with families, governors and The 1590 Trust, were highlighted in the report.

"However, we won't get complacent and know that one of our targets for development is the History curriculum, whilst also planning ways to incorporate 'Levendale Goals' such as 'Independence, Aspirations and Pupil Voice', throughout our curriculum.

"These are certainly exciting times ahead!"

Councillor Lisa Evans, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "Congratulations to Levendale Primary School for this very pleasing Ofsted result - and praise must go to the staff, governors, pupils, parents and carers for their collective effort.

"Keep up the good work, everyone!"
