"Another feather in our cap": Council up for prestigious 'Council of the Year Award'!

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has been shortlisted for the prestigious 'Council of the Year Award' in the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) awards.

The shortlisting for the coveted award comes after the Council secured six nominations for various awards from APSE last month.

The APSE awards acknowledge the very best in local government frontline services, with Councils throughout the UK recognised for their achievements in delivering excellence. 

And the Council is one of eight authorities to have been shortlisted for the 'Council of the Year Award'.

Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: "It is a massive achievement and a huge honour to be shortlisted for this award, which is much sought-after by Councils up and down the country.

"We are proud of the top class service we continue to provide for residents and this is very welcome recognition."

Mike Greene, Chief Executive of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: "The shortlisting is another feather in our cap following on from being nominated for six individual APSE awards - and it is richly deserved.

"My thanks as always must go to our hard-working and innovative staff across the organisation, who continue to serve our residents with distinction during very challenging times."

The winner of the Council of the Year is due to be announced in September.
