SEND IASS - for professionals

We can support you as a professional by providing information on special educational needs and or disabilities (SEND) law and local services. We also have resources you may find useful in your role. Alternatively, you can refer the family to us so that we can offer them support directly.

An introduction video

The following video produced by The Council For Disabled Children (CDC) gives an overview of what our service does.

What can we help you with?

We can:

  • listen to and answer your SEND queries
  • help you with understanding SEND Law and the rights of families you work with
  • accept referrals from professionals (with appropriate permissions)
  • help you with understanding SEN support and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • provide information about the Local Offer
  • give you the tools and information to help empower parents and young people

How to make a referral to us

We have no formal referral process to allow ease of access for parents and carers.

You will contact us and provide the following details:

  • parent and carer name and email or contact number
  • child's name
  • child's needs such as diagnoses
  • reasons for referral or outline of enquiry and what support you are hoping for
