At the beginning of the week Mike Greene, Chief Executive, and I met with Matt Storey, the recently elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland Police. Our meetings ensure we maintain working closely with Cleveland Police and an effective response to crime and anti-social behavioural issues across the Borough.

On Tuesday morning, I attended a briefing from Jonathan Nertney, Head of Democratic Services, for updates regarding our democratic, scrutiny and electoral services. The services are busy preparing for the upcoming Fairfield by-election and the annual canvass, the yearly check that every household in the Borough is correctly registered on the electoral register.

In the afternoon, I joined an informal catch-up with Cabinet Members to hear updates from their areas.

Midweek I attended the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) Cabinet briefing session for the Tees Valley Review.

Yesterday was a quieter day, allowing me to catch up with important paperwork and other items.

Today, I am attending a Local Government Authority (LGA) meeting for the Employers' Side for Youth and Community, and Soulbury.

This weekend, I'm looking forward to spending some quality time relaxing with my family. Middlesbrough host Portsmouth this weekend and will be hopefully of a win. An away loss to Derby last weekend put a spanner in the works for what looked to be a strong start to the championship. We've got a really strong team on paper so I hope that we can showcase our ability as a team this weekend and emerge with all three points.
