Tributes following death of Honorary Alderman Marjorie Galloway MBE


Tributes have been made to former Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Marjorie Galloway MBE, who has died aged 99.
First elected in 1973, Marjorie served as a Councillor in the former Preston ward until 1987.
She was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace in 2013 and given Honorary Alderman status by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in 2016.
The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor John Gardner, said: "Marjorie always represented the people of her ward passionately and was truly dedicated to her role as a Councillor.
"Being awarded an MBE and Honorary Alderman status was fitting recognition for her stellar work over the years.
"The thoughts of everyone at the Council are with Marjorie's family and friends at this sad time."
