Friday 22 October
On Monday members of the Tees Valley Local Enterprise Partnership Board met at Teesside Airport where we were given a tour before the formal business started.
This week I was part of the Members' appointment panel carrying out interviews for the Assistant Director of Finance, Development and Business Services. We held sessions with the candidates on both Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday afternoon Cabinet colleagues and the Corporate Management Team met for our regular meeting where we discussed a range of issues including anti-social behaviour, among other things.
I joined members of Bright Minds Big Futures (BMBF) at an exciting opportunity on Tuesday morning which saw them meet with Deputy Lord Lieutenants of North Yorkshire, Sir Martin Narey DL and the Countess Charlotte Peel. The BMBF members gave the special guests a fantastic presentation which showcased all the projects they are working on and all their achievements.
I was delighted to join colleagues from North East Procurement Organisation at a volunteering session on Wednesday at the Tees Barrage. We were there to help with a wide range of activities including litter picking, planting bulbs and repainting benches. It was a pleasure to go along and give my time.
In preparation for a Built Environment Networking conference I am attending, I met with Jen Tomlin from the Town Centres team on Wednesday afternoon.
I travelled to Edinburgh at the end of the week to attend a Ministry of Defence ceremony which saw 140 organisations across the United Kingdom receive the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award. As Armed Forces Champion for the Borough I was honoured to attend and receive the award which notes our commitment to employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families.
At the weekend I'm looking forward to seeing how Middlesbrough get on against Cardiff, who are managed by Mick McCarthy. It's a great opportunity for an away win because Cardiff are really struggling for form and have conceded a lot of goals this season. With the new signings really starting to find their feet, I'm confident Boro can get the victory.
