Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Learning and Skills service (LSS) has earned international recognition.

The LSS has been awarded the matrix Standard for the high quality of information, advice and guidance (IAG) it provides to users.

The matrix Standard, which is owned by the Department for Education, is the international quality standard for organisations who deliver IAG.

And an independent assessor praised the LSS for its strong leadership and management, as well as the range of measures it has for success.

The report also found learners felt "stronger", "empowered" and "much more confident" after taking part in LSS courses.

Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: "It's great to receive the matrix Standard and it's testament to the hard work and dedication of the Learning and Skills staff, who really do offer a brilliant service.

"There are a range of courses available fit for a range of interests and abilities, so I'd encourage you all to visit our website to take a look to see if there's anything for you."
