Community Integration Small Grants Scheme 2025 to 2026

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Community Integration Small Grants Scheme is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSE) to support refugees and asylum-seekers (RAS) with their integration and resettlement within the borough.

The initial funding pot of £30,000 is to support small-scale projects to deliver new or existing initiatives focusing on welcoming and integrating refugees and asylum-seekers into our communities; encouraging a community-led approach for people to rebuild their lives in the borough to support a sense of belonging and to maximise their skills and abilities to help them flourish within the community.

Organisations can apply for support to deliver their projects up to a maximum of £2,000 per application, which will need to be spent within 12 months from receipt of funds. More than one application may be submitted, if this is for a different activity.

Projects must be delivered by 30 April 2026 (but can run for less than a 12-month period).

All applications should aim to support integration of newly arrived communities, including refugees and asylum-seekers from the following schemes:

  • UK resettlement schemes
  • Afghan resettlement schemes
  • Ukraine schemes
  • Hong Kong BNO (British National Overseas) scheme
  • Asylum-seeker scheme (those in dispersal or contingency accommodation through the Home Office)
  • Refugees who have been granted leave to remain following an asylum application

All projects should be delivered within the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and meet one or more of the following key priorities:

  • supports integration of refugee and asylum-seeker communities
  • improves access to services
  • reduces loneliness and isolation
  • improves physical and mental health and wellbeing
  • promotes equality and inclusivity

Applications offering a community provision to support the development of English language in social settings will also be considered.

The scheme will open for applications to be submitted online from the 20 March 2025 until the 1 May 2025.
