Sponsored by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and administered by the Globe's operator, the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), the draw will see a total of 500 tickets go up for grabs.

The first of the draws - which are exclusively for residents of the Borough - gave away 20 pairs of Status Quo tickets and six of the lucky winners were able to visit the Globe to celebrate their win.

David O'Neill, Kevin Taylor, Peter Leahy, Jacqui Bancroft, Lisa McCarthy and Shamal Pereta were welcomed inside the venue by Councillor Jim Beall to see the stunning restoration for themselves.

Councillor Beall, the Council's Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure and Culture, said: "It was a pleasure to meet some of the first lucky winners of the Globe Free Tickets Draw and to be able to give them a sneak peek into the finished restoration of this wonderful venue.

"Their feedback was extremely positive, and they cannot wait to be in their seats and ready for the curtain to go up for Status Quo in March next year!

"We were really keen to have a free tickets draw in place for the Globe's first year of reopening. I'm glad that 500 residents of the Borough are going to come and have a great time here enjoying first-class entertainment through the monthly draws.

"Congratulations again to the winners of the first Globe Free Tickets Draw and I'd encourage everyone to keep entering the monthly draws via www.stocktonglobe.co.uk/the-globe-free-tickets-draw to try their luck."

David O'Neill, 70, from Stockton, said: "I live in Stockton and have done all my life. I used to pass the Globe when it was unused and unloved so when the restoration was announced, I was overjoyed.

"It took longer than expected but now it has finally been achieved and it looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it with an audience. I'd already bought tickets for Paloma Faith, John Bishop and Steve Hackett so winning some for Status Quo was truly a bonus!"

Lisa McCarthy, 59, from Norton, said: "It was amazing receiving the news that I was a winner, I'm really looking forward to seeing Status Quo.

"It felt like the music lover's equivalent of a tour around Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, seeing parts of this iconic building that I would never normally be able to see.

"I can actually say I was on the stage at the Globe in 2021! I'd urge everyone to support this fabulous venue, it's got something for everyone."

The second monthly draw is now live for entries and winners can choose to see either iconic dance DJ Judge Jules on October 16 or enjoy a celebration of UK house and garage with The House & Garage Orchestra on November 13.

Entries close at 5pm on Friday 16 July 2021 and winners will be contacted directly by ATG.

Hard copy entry forms are also available at libraries and Family Hubs across the Borough.
