Details of how people in Stockton-on-Tees can pay their respects following the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, have been confirmed.
Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said: "It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of His Royal Highness.
"He accompanied Her Majesty The Queen on a number of visits to the Borough over the years and I know many people will remember those occasions with great fondness.
"This included visits to Preston Park and the opening of the International White Water Course at the Tees Barrage.
"We know people will be keen to pay their respects and there are a number of ways in which this can be done.
"We are following national guidance and would ask that people are also mindful of the national public health advice we must all follow too."
Book of Condolence arrangements
During the current public health situation and in line with the Royal Family's wishes, Books of Condolence will not be available for the public to sign.
Members of the public wishing to express their condolences are encouraged to send a message to the Royal Family via the online Book of Condolence on Royal website.
Flag flying details and changes to feature lighting
As a mark of respect, flags at Stockton's Municipal Buildings and Town Hall will fly at half-mast during this period of national mourning and from tonight the feature lighting in Stockton town centre, Stockton Riverside and Newport Bridge, will be set to purple.
