Report a problem with a road, path or street light
We are responsible for maintaining all Council adopted roads, footpaths, cycle paths and street lights in the Borough.
As well as routine inspections, our team responds to calls about maintenance issues and determine if any repair work is needed. We aim to carry out any repair work within 28 days or, where a fault is deemed an immediate risk to users, we will respond and make safe within 24 hours.
How to report it
To report non-urgent defects use one of the following online forms:
Report a damaged road, path or piece of street furniture
If you believe the damage poses immediate danger to public safety and requires immediate attention, call our Care for your Area team on 01642 391959 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm and Saturday 9.30am to 12.30pm

Report issues with bridge structures to HTD@stockton.gov.uk
Level crossing
For level crossing issues contact Network Rail using their 24/7 emergency number on 03457 114141.
Traffic lights
Middlesbrough Council is responsible for the maintenance of traffic lights and crossings signals within our Borough.
If you spot a traffic light not working, contact Middlesbrough Council.

Major roads such as the A19 and A66 are maintained by Highways England.
To report a problem on the A19 and A66 (A19 to Teesside Park interchange) phone Autolink on 01642 560538.
