Reserve or renew a library book

We can help you to renew your existing library loans or reserve any item you want that is currently out on loan.

You can reserve or renew a book by:

  • using an online library account - available 24 hours a day
  • visiting one of our libraries where a member of staff will be happy to help
  • phoning one of our libraries

For the addresses and contact numbers of each of our libraries, visit our find a library page.

Using an online library account

Open an online library account

To open an online account you will need your library card number and pin code.

Once you have your details, you can login and begin using your online library account

Reserve an item

You can use your online library account to reserve an item by following the below steps.

  1. Log in to your online library account.
  2. Browse items by genre or use the search box to see what is available (use the advanced search options to narrow down your search).
  3. Once you have found the book you want, select 'check availability' and it will state if the book is available and which library has it in stock.
  4. If the book is available, select the library you wish to collect it from and reserve the item.
  5. If the book is already out on loan, you can reserve it and we will email you when it becomes available.

You can reserve items in our library stock for free.

There is a charge of £1.20 per item for reserving items that are not in our stock. We will ask you to pay this charge when you make the reservation and it is not subject to supply of the item or notification.

If there are additional charges for borrowing books or journals from outside of Stockton Borough these will be charged at 50% of the cost of supply.
