Sparkles is just around the corner...
THE FESTIVE fun is set to get underway in Stockton as the Sparkles launch night takes place this Thursday (30 November), featuring the big Christmas lights switch-on!
Between 5.30pm and 7pm, gather near The Shambles on Stockton High Street to see the town centre come alive with seasonal song and winter wonder.
BBC Tees' Scott Makin and Paul L Martin will be on hand to kick-off the evening's entertainment which includes Hartburn's very own nine-year-old Brooke Burke (as seen on BBC's The Voice Kids) stunning the crowds with her Christmas performance before a unique mirror ball act lights up Stockton town centre.
The Sparkles Market also launches on Thursday to transform the High Street into a vibrant festive village. Visit the wonderful Christmas log cabins for a range of handmade crafts, gifts and delicious treats. Traders include the Three Brothers Brewing Company, Sparkles Jewellery, The Spoilt Rotten Pet Company, Stateside Treat Emporium and many more.
Before long, it'll be time for the moment you've all been waiting for!
At 6.30pm, the Christmas lights switch-on will be led by the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Eileen Johnson, as she joins Santa himself and guests on stage to press the button and get Stockton sparkling.
If you're coming along with the family, you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for your chance to join our 'Christmas kazoo orchestra'.
You'll be able to join in with a classic Christmas number to get you in the festive spirit and, if your numbered kazoo is chosen, you could find yourself joining the Mayor and Santa on stage to turn on our Christmas lights!
Sparkles is Stockton-on-Tees' Christmas festival and features a packed four-week programme including arts and craft workshops, quirky street theatre, choirs, continental markets as well as the much-loved Reindeer Parade.
