Parents and carers are being urged to submit their applications as soon as possible now the window has opened today (Monday, November 8).

How do I know it is time to apply for my child's primary school place?

If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018, they will be due to start primary school in September 2022.

How do I apply?

You can apply using the online form or download one to print at home and send in at here (opens new window)

Alternatively, you can call the admissions team on 01642 526605 or contact them via email at school.admissions@stockton.gov.uk.

When is the deadline?

The deadline for applications is Saturday 15 January 2022.

Any applications received after this date will be classed as late and will not be considered until after those made on time have been processed.

My child attends a nursery - do I still need to apply?

Yes. There's no automatic transfer from nursery to primary school so you must apply even if your child goes to a school nursery.

How many schools can I apply for?

You may apply for up to three schools and you can provide reasons for your choices in your application.

When will I find out which school my child has got a place at?

If you apply online and select to receive an email, you'll be emailed on Saturday 16 April 2022 informing you of your child's allocated place.

Paper applicants and those who did not select to receive an email will receive a letter notifying you of your child's school place via second class post.

My child was born between April and August 2018 - can I defer their start date?

If your child was born between these dates and you are interested in deferring their start at primary school to the next academic year, you must make this clear and known on your application so the request can be considered.

A word from the Cabinet Member...

Councillor Lisa Evans, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "The start of a child's school journey is hugely important so I encourage parents and carers to submit their applications nice and early before the deadline to ensure your choices can be considered on time.

"My advice would be to use all three of your preferences to have the best chance of securing a place at a school of your choice."
