The service ceased all face to face classes on 20 March as part of the Council's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and converted delivery to online learning.

But from Monday, 14 September, some face-to-face classes and classroom activity will resume at Billingham Community Centre and Stockton Business Centre - and learners can choose from a prospectus of new courses to help them in work and life, including English, maths, digital skills, employment support, apprenticeships, health and wellbeing programmes plus many more.

Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: "The new Learning and Skills prospectus offers a wide variety of courses for people of all interests and staff will be on hand to support learners every step of the way, whether you enrol to learn a new skill, meet new people, get a new job or get help to start a new business.

"The staff are committed to offering a safe learning environment for everyone and have worked very hard to ensure classrooms are COVID-safe with socially distanced classroom layouts, staggered class start times, social distancing and hygiene signage, and hand sanitising stations in place throughout the buildings. We look forward to welcoming people back safely for the new academic year."

Prospective learners can also book a virtual session to talk to a tutor or career adviser on the following dates:

  • 10am-2pm, Wednesday 9 September
  • 2pm-6pm, Thursday 10 September
  • 10am-2pm, Friday, 11 September
