Your guide to Remembrance Sunday in the Borough

Communities across the Stockton-on-Tees Borough are getting ready to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday (November 14).

Services will be held across the area to remember those who gave their lives in both World Wars and also more recent conflicts.

Here are all the details you need to know.

Stockton

Stockton Parish Church will hold its usual Sunday Service at 9.30am. This will end with the Act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph from 10.45am.

Those who are only attending the Cenotaph service are asked to arrive by 10.35am.

A parade will march up the High Street from 10.35am and be in position at the Cenotaph for the service at 10.45am.

At the service, the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Kevin Faulks, will lay a wreath on behalf of the Council.

Thornaby

A parade will be taking place at 10.30am.

Anyone joining the parade is asked to be at the car park in Chelmsford Street, off Westbury Street, no later than 10.20am.

A service will then be held at the Cenotaph on Acklam Road at 10.45am.

The Deputy Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ross Patterson, will lay a wreath.

Billingham

A parade will assemble in the car park of the Salutation Pub, on West Road, from 10am.

The parade will then begin at 10.30am down to the Garden of Remembrance on Station Road for 11am.

A service will take place for around 45 minutes and the parade will then proceed back to the Salutation Pub.

Egglescliffe

A service will be held at St. John the Baptist Church on Butts Lane at 10am.

This will be followed by a procession to Egglescliffe War Memorial at 10.45am.

Ingleby Barwick

A service will begin at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Barwick Lane. An Act of Remembrance will follow at the War Memorial at 11am.

Kirklevington

The Church of St. Martin and St. Hilary on Forest Lane will be holding a service at 10.30am. A two minutes' silence will follow.

Norton

A Festival of Remembrance will be held on Saturday (November 13) from 10.30am at Norton Cricket Club on Station Road. Billingham Silver Band will be in attendance.

Port Clarence

A short service will be held at the Cenotaph on Port Clarence Road at 3pm. This will be followed by the laying of wreaths.

Preston-on-Tees

A service which will be held at All Saints' Church on Dunattor Avenue at 9.45am. A two minutes' silence will then be held at the nearby War Memorial.

Stillington

A service will be held at Stillington Cenotaph on Messines Lane at 12pm.

Wolviston

A service will be held at St. Peter's Church on West Hartlepool Road at 10.15am. There will then be a procession to the War Memorial for the laying of the wreath at 10.45am.

Yarm

A service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church on West Street at 9.30am, followed by a parade along the High Street. The Act of Remembrance will be held at the War Memorial at 10.45am.
