Supported internships - everything you need to know

Stockton Riverside College

Stockton Riverside College offer Supported Internships through the King's Trust. This programme offers students the opportunity to:

  • develop their employability skills
  • increase their confidence
  • increase personal independence
  • learn about budgeting
  • prepare for adulthood

This is achieved through vocational profiles, enterprise activities, classroom based learning, independent travel training and work placements.

The workplaces are varied and are set up to meet individual interests and needs. This is a one year academic programme, which starts in the college environment, followed by work placements of two days a week starting from the January.

Job Coaches provide mentoring for both students and the work placement provider. Students have access to learning support in the work placement to help them learn and develop the skills and knowledge required, with a view to students becoming more independent in the workplace.

In the final weeks of the programme, students are supported with their next steps into employment, training or independent living.
