Safer Streets Fund - CCTV

In 2023 we were successful in securing additional funding to make parts of Stockton-on-Tees safer. The additional funding was made available through the Home Office Safer Street Fund, which was aimed at reducing neighbourhood crime in the Tilery and Portrack area.

Throughout 2023 and 2024 we will be working closely with key partners, elected members and residents to ensure the funding is used to address key issues in the community and improve crime rates and feelings of safety.

As part of the work to deliver the Safer Streets project, a number of planned improvements will be delivered which include improvements to street lighting, alley gates, crime prevention initiatives and an improvement in public space CCTV. Additional CCTV locations have been identified based in consultation with partners and key community representatives and installation will take place in early 2024. The purpose of these additional cameras is to improve public safety and reduce both crime and anti-social behaviour.
