How will the works affect me?
As we move through the stages of redevelopment, all efforts will be made to minimise disruption to residents and the businesses in the surrounding town centre.
The Council has worked with businesses and property owners to record the conditions of properties that are in the immediate area to ensure there is no impact on these buildings as a result of the works.
The construction of Stockton Waterfront urban park is continuing at pace.
Construction on two retaining walls is taking place and the paving on the Finkle Square area is beginning to form, showing the first visual signs of the urban park in place.
Major roadworks on A1305 Riverside Road are taking place as part of this development. A land bridge will span A1035 Riverside Road and as part of this, the road is being narrowed and reduced to a single carriageway.

Long-term contraflow on A1305 Riverside Road from Sunday 28 January 2024
From 6pm on Sunday 28 January, a long-term contraflow will be in place to keep traffic flowing during construction of the urban park's new land bridge and road layout.
From Sunday, the road will be permanently reduced from a dual carriageway to a single carriageway in each direction between Quayside Road and the Silver Street footbridge.
A temporary reduced speed limit of 20mph will also be in place, along with a diversion for Heavy Goods Vehicles.
Finkle Street paving works from June 2024
Paving work is taking place on Finkle Street from June 2024, which will begin to show the first visual signs of the urban park in place. The paving works will take place in front of the historic buildings on Finkle Street. Access will be maintained at all times and a footpath diversion will be in place through Green Dragon Yard for access into La Porto.
The work will complement the new Finkle Square in the urban park, which will be the main arrival point from the centre of the High Street.
Closure of Riverside Walk Footpath from Monday 7 October 2024
The Riverside Walk footpath between the Millennium Footbridge and the Riverside Road footbridge will be closed from Monday 7 October.
This will be in place until the completion of the urban park's construction in 2026.
The closure will allow work on the Riverside area of the park to begin, starting with the construction of new drainage along the river's edge and for existing power lines to be moved to allow construction of a new substation that is needed to power the park.
A pedestrian diversion will be in place from Teesdale Business Park to Stockton Town Centre via the Millennium footbridge. An accessible diversion route will also be available via the Princess of Wales Bridge.

Temporary closures of A1305 Riverside Road and Millennium footbridge - March 2025
The A1305 Riverside Road in Stockton will be closed in both directions between Tower Street and Northshore Gyratory between 1am and 9am on Sunday 2 March and between 12am and 5am on Monday 3 March.
This closure will allow the removal of the ramped section of the Millennium footbridge. The removal of the ramp will allow for the footbridge to seamlessly connect onto the new park.
The demolition work is planned overnight on a weekend to minimise disruption as much as possible. A diversion will be in place via Maritime Road, Allison Street and Prince Regent Street.
As part of this, the Millennium footbridge will also be closed to pedestrians from 4pm on Friday 28 February until 4pm on Friday 7 March.
A pedestrian diversion is already in place via the Princess of Wales Bridge.
