30 September 2024

This week started with an induction day with the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA). I am continuing my role as Cabinet member for the combined authority, and it was good to meet members of the other boards and committees led by the TVCA some of which I work with in other roles such as their Councillor or Leader roles.

On Tuesday I met with Mike Greene, Chief Executive of the Council, Lisa Evans, Deputy Leader of the Council, and Majella McCarthy, Director of Children's Services, to talk about the services we provide to the young people of the Borough.

Mid-week I attended a meeting with all three of our Unions. This is a regular meeting which gives the unions a chance to speak to us directly about any issues they may be experiencing. I think it's important to engage with our Unions and keep a good relationship with them.

On Thursday myself, Mike Greene and Lisa Evans had our regular catch up ahead of a Cabinet meeting in the evening.

At Cabinet, items discussed included an update on our Medium Term Financial Plan; the Central Stockton and North Thornaby Blueprint; and plans to accelerate the delivery of affordable housing.

This morning I've attended a pre-meeting for the Health and Wellbeing Board meeting later this month, for which I am Chair.

This weekend I will be spending some time relaxing with my family. Middlesbrough Preston on Saturday at the Riverside. We're strong favourites to win and another three points should hopefully bring us into the playoff places.
