Your guide to Remembrance Sunday 2019

Stockton-on-Tees will fall silent on Sunday 10 November as people pay their respects and remember our armed forces who gave their lives in conflict.

The commitment and sacrifice of armed forces members over the years will be commemorated at a number of parades and services across the Borough.

We've brought together a list of what is happening and where so you too can remember the fallen:

Billingham

A parade will assemble from 10am in the car park of the Salutation pub and march at 10.30am to the Garden of Remembrance on Station Road for 11am.

There a service will take place lasting for approximately 45 minutes before the parade returns to its starting point.

Egglescliffe

Egglescliffe Parish Church (St. John the Baptist) on Butts Lane will host a service at 10am before proceeding to the War Memorial for 10.45am for a further short service and wreath laying ceremony.

Ingleby Barwick

The town's Remembrance Sunday service commences at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church. There will also be an Act of Remembrance in Romano Park at 11am.

Kirklevington

The Church of St. Martin and St. Hilary will hold a remembrance service at 10.30am followed by a laying of wreaths at Kirklevington Memorial Hall at 11am.

Norton (Saturday 9 November)

A 'Festival of Remembrance' is taking place from 10.30am at Norton Cricket Club and will feature performances from the Billingham Silver Band.

Port Clarence

A short service will be held at the cenotaph at 2.30pm with the laying of wreaths.

Preston-on-Tees

A 9.45am service will be held at All Saints Church on Dunottar Avenue before a parade will make its way to the cenotaph on Albert Road to lay wreaths at 11am.

Stillington

Service will begin at 12noon at the cenotaph on Messines Lane.

Stockton

Stockton Parish Church will hold its normal Sunday service at 9.30am with a remembrance theme ending with a cenotaph service from 10.45am.

Those attending the cenotaph service only are asked to assemble there by 10.35am. A parade will march up the High Street from 10.35am and reach the cenotaph ten minutes later.

Thornaby

Members of the public are asked to gather at the car park on Chelmsford Street for a parade starting at 10.25am making its way to the cenotaph on Acklam Road for a service at 10.40am.

Wolviston

A service will be held at St. Peter's Church at 10.15am followed by a procession to the war memorial for a laying of the wreath at 10.45am.

Yarm

St. Mary Magdalene Church on West Street will host a service at 9.30am followed by a parade along the High Street to the service of remembrance held at the war memorial at 10.45am.
