Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Learning and Skills Service has maintained its "good" rating from Ofsted.

The Learning and Skills Service offers a wide range of courses designed to help people increase their confidence and gain new skills and qualifications.

And following a four-day inspection in June, the service was praised by Ofsted for the quality of education provided and adult learning programmes.

The report also found how learners "increase their personal confidence" and "gain new skills and knowledge that enable them to try things for the first time".

There's also praise for the "ambitious curriculum" and it's noted how teachers demonstrate a "mastery of their craft".

Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: "This very positive report is testament to the hard work and dedication of the Learning and Skills staff, who offer an excellent service across a whole range of courses.

"This Ofsted report is another feather in the cap after the service received national recognition last year when awarded the 'matrix standard'.

"Despite this, we will not get complacent and we recognise there are improvements we can still make to ensure our offer for residents is as strong as it can be.

"From Maths and English to creative arts and digital skills, there are a variety of courses available across the service to fit a range of interests and abilities, so I'd encourage you all to take a look to see if there's anything for you to enrol on."
